No one likes to be taken for granted. This is especially true for volunteers who give up their time coaching, administering and generally helping out around a club. It is essential that the effort that these individuals put in is recognised and that they are supported by the club. “It costs you nothing to say thank you.”
In order to support these volunteers a club could / should have a volunteer coordinator who can provide support and mentoring especially for new volunteers and those assuming new roles within the club. It is essential that all volunteers feel wanted the club and do not get left to feel isolated and over worked. It is a good idea to provide all of your volunteers & committee members with a job description. This lets them and others know exactly what they are responsible for and what lies outwith their remits. It does not take much to support your volunteers and committee members. The club as a whole should recognise the work they put in and the contribution they make throughout the season. Without these individuals your club would not exist in it’s current fashion. |
